A wide-field narrowband study of two neighbouring star-forming regions in the Carina arm of the Milky Way — NGC 3576, the Statue of Liberty Nebula, a bright emission nebula around 9,000 light-years away whose folded ridges of glowing gas recall the famous statue, alongside the cluster NGC 3572 and its dark "tadpole" globules, pockets of dust and gas being sculpted into cometary shapes by the winds of hot young stars. Captured in the SHO / Hubble palette (Baader Ha, OIII and SII narrowband) on a William Optics RedCat 61 with a ZWO ASI1600MM, from Bortle 7 Sydney over six nights. A deep dataset with all three channels well represented suited to a full tricolour SHO rendering.

Thanks I have quite a few data sets waiting but the ones I have processed have been excellent. I do not yet put any iimage on line as I have had many health issues and difficulties with software and hardware. I am a 73 year old learner with defective colour vision and barely 3 months using PixInsight and Photoshop cc so it is as steep for me as it is difficult to see stars in my letterbox of Bortle 7 city sky…

This dataset captures NGC 3572 and the nearby NGC 3576 complex in the southern Carina region, often called the Southern Tadpoles and Statue of Liberty nebulae. The acquisition spans 24.75 hours of total integration collected between May 6 and June 23, 2026, using a Redcat 61 telescope paired with a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro monochrome camera on an ML-Astro SAL33 mount. The narrowband data comprises 88 frames through Baader 7nm Ha (7.3 hours), 115 frames through Baader 8.5nm OIII (9.6 hours), and 94 frames through Baader 8.5nm SII (7.8 hours), all at 300-second exposures. This wide-field composition reveals the intricate emission structures and stellar nurseries in this rich star-forming region. The dataset is available as a free download under CC BY-NC 4.0, permitting copying, modification and redistribution for non-commercial purposes.
