Descripción

A detailed view of Sh2-132 (The Lion Nebula) in the constellation Cepheus, located roughly 10,000 light-years from Earth. This emission nebula is energized by a cluster of massive stars, including a powerful Wolf–Rayet star whose stellar winds shape and illuminate the surrounding hydrogen gas.

The structure reveals a striking, almost heraldic form—resembling a lion standing in profile—carved from layers of glowing emission and dark interstellar dust. The brighter upper regions mark intense ionization, while the lower arcs and wisps trace more subtle interactions within the surrounding gas.

Within this cosmic jungle, light and shadow interplay across multiple scales, revealing both turbulence and calm. The restrained color treatment preserves the natural dominance of hydrogen emission, while allowing faint cooler tones to emerge in the lower regions—hinting at the complexity beneath the glow.

Balanced between motion and stillness, the figure stands poised and ready as the heraldic lion roars.

Note: Even tho this was listed as C39 it is not the Eskimo or Clown face Planetary Nebula
