This dataset captures NGC 5194, the Whirlpool Galaxy, also cataloged as M51. The acquisition spans two nights in late April 2026, accumulating 10 hours of total integration through an Askar 120 APO refractor paired with a ZWO 585 MC pro camera on an AM5N mount. All 200 frames were captured at 180-second exposures using an Optolong L-Enhance narrowband filter, which isolates hydrogen-alpha and oxygen-III emission to reveal the galaxy's spiral structure and star-forming regions with enhanced contrast. The data is released under a CC0 1.0 Universal license, placing it in the public domain with no copyright restrictions. Access is available through a one-time purchase of approximately $36.90, providing calibrated sub-exposures suitable for advanced stacking and processing workflows.
