IC 405 & IC 410 — The Flaming Tadpole
Two very different nebulae share this richly textured field in Auriga: IC 405, the Flaming Star Nebula, and IC 410, home of the Tadpoles.
Processed as an RGB + Ha + OIII composition, the broadband RGB established the natural color foundation before the narrowband data was introduced. Ha strengthens the sweeping red and rose emission throughout the field, while OIII brings out the cooler steel-blue and cyan structures—particularly around IC 410—without overwhelming the warmer character of the nebulae.
The final balance preserves the distinctly different personalities of the pair: the flowing, fiery structure of IC 405 above and the more compact, turbulent IC 410 below, with its famous Tadpoles silhouetted within the glowing gas.
Together, they make The Flaming Tadpole.
