How are those files calibrated and stacked?
We use the newest version of PixInsight software and WBPP script standard process with Local Normalization applied.
How do I purchase Image?
We work as any other standard on-line store. Simply add the image to the cart, provide your personal data for the bill/invoice and pay for the order by Credit Card - Payments are handled by Stripe (currently only one acceptable payment method).
I am not satisfied with the purchase
All files are carefully checked but if you're not satisfied - just write us within 14 days from purchase and we will make a refund. We only require that after the refund you delete all purchased files.

Description
A bright emission nebula in the southern constellation Centaurus, about 6,500 light-years away. The "Running Chicken" name comes from the overall outline of the bright HII region, which (with a generous imagination) resembles a chicken with its neck outstretched mid-stride. At the heart of the nebula is the young open cluster Collinder 249, whose hot blue stars emit the ultraviolet radiation that ionises the surrounding hydrogen gas and makes it glow. The most famous detail visible in wide-field shots of this region are Thackeray's Globules — small dark Bok globules silhouetted against the bright nebulosity, named after South African astronomer A.D. Thackeray who first catalogued them in 1950. These tiny knots of cold molecular gas are roughly the size of our solar system and may be the early stages of star formation, slowly collapsing under their own gravity. The nebula sits within the larger Carina-Centaurus molecular cloud complex and is a popular stop for southern hemisphere astrophotographers chasing the SHO palette.

About this dataset

IC 2944, also known as the Lambda Centauri Nebula or Running Chicken Nebula, was captured over a 71-day period from mid-February to late April 2026. The dataset comprises 28.4 hours of total integration time across three narrowband filters: 92 frames in Baader 7nm Hydrogen-alpha, 104 frames in Baader 8.5nm Oxygen-III, and 145 frames in Baader 8.5nm Sulfur-II. Each sub-exposure lasted 300 seconds. The imaging train consisted of a Redcat 61 telescope paired with a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro monochrome camera, mounted on a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTI tracking platform. This combination of compact wide-field optics and a sensitive cooled CMOS sensor allowed the capture of this emission nebula's intricate structure across multiple ionization zones. The data is available as a free download under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license, permitting non-commercial copying, modification and redistribution.
