Made for the nights you can't image

Bortle 8 backyard?

Process data captured under Bortle 1–4 skies with 3 nm narrowband filters — the kind of signal you can't get from the city.

No rig, or saving up for one?

Learn stacking‑free processing: stretch, star removal, colour calibration, narrowband palettes — on real data, not tutorials' sample JPEGs.

Six weeks of clouds?

Keep your processing skills sharp. New datasets are added every month, many with Astrobin Top Pick / IOTD credentials.

Simple process

How it works

1

Pick a dataset

Every listing shows integration time, filters, gear, Bortle class and a stretched preview.

2

Download the FITS masters

One stacked, calibrated master light per filter (Hα, OIII, SII, L, R, G, B…). Free ones cost nothing — just a free account.

3

Process it your way

PixInsight, Siril, GraXpert, Photoshop, APP — whatever you use. Post the result on r/astrophotography and credit the author.

License: personal & educational processing; commercial use per each dataset's license. Terms & Conditions

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is a "master light"?
A stacked, calibrated image made from all the sub‑exposures of one filter. You skip calibration and stacking and go straight to stretching, noise reduction and colour work. Delivered as 32‑bit FITS.
Is the free data really free?
Yes. Create a free account, add the dataset to your cart at $0 and download. No card, no trial.
Which software can open the files?
Anything that reads FITS: PixInsight, Siril, GraXpert, Astro Pixel Processor, DeepSkyStacker, ASTAP, Photoshop with a FITS plugin, and more.
Can I post my result online?
Absolutely — that's the point. Please credit the data author and link back; each listing shows the license.
Do you have data from my hemisphere?
Both. Northern targets from Spain/Canada/Poland and southern ones from Australia and New Zealand.
How do I sell my own data?
Register, use the 3‑step upload form, set your price. After review it goes live in the catalog and you're paid out for every sale.
